Tekαkαpimək Visitation – October 13/14

Please carefully read the following information and fill out the registration form below to confirm your visit:

Tekαkαpimək Hours [closed at all other times]:

  • Sunday, October 13th from 10 AM to 3 PM
  • Monday, October 14th from 10 AM to 3 PM

You can visit Sunday, Monday, or both!

Getting to Tekαkαpimək:

  • Traveling from the Millinocket area?
    • Take Rte 11/Grindstone Rd from Medway for approx. 20 miles to the Swift Brook Road (gravel road),
    • From there, drive on Swift Brook Road for 5 miles where you will then turn right on the new connector road towards Tekαkαpimək
  • Traveling from any points North or South on I-95?
    • Take Exit 264 off I-95, and follow signs for Rt 11/Katahdin Woods and Waters towards Loop Road to enter the Swift Brook Rd (gravel road),
    • From there, drive on Swift Brook Road for 5 miles where you will then turn right on the new connector road towards Tekαkαpimək.
  • For GPS directions, you can enter “Taylor’s Katahdin View Camps and Campground” to get to the start of Swift Brook Road.
  • Do not follow GPS directions if they take you on Stacyville Rd or Roberts Rd.

Travel Notes:

  • If you want to explore Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument beyond Tekαkαpimək Contact Station, find recommended hikes, travel advisories, and more to help you Plan Your Visit on the NPS KAWW website.
  • While the roads into Tekαkαpimək Contact Station will be no problem for smaller cars, many people find that the Loop Road is not enjoyable unless you have a high-clearance, and/or AWD vehicle.
  • There is no reliable cell service within Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Download the NPS App and save the maps offline before you go.
