Steve Richardson was born and raised in Patten, Maine and currently lives at Shin Pond (T5R7) which borders the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. He and his wife, Vicki, have totally embraced the potential that Katahdin Woods and Waters has for the economic revitalization of surrounding communities, for raising the aspirations of our youth, and for preserving the culture and environment of a beautiful area of this country. Steve graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked for O’Brien & Gere Engineers in Syracuse, NY in their research department doing EPA projects in the Lake Ontario region. He returned to the Katahdin area to become the Treasurer of Katahdin Trust Company and later the President & CEO and is now the Chair of their Board of Directors. He continued his family’s hardware business in Patten, which he now shares in minority with his son, Nathan. Steve has served on several local Boards dealing with community matters and continues to promote cooperation between and among all communities in the Katahdin Region as a major component of future economic, social, and environmental success. Steve serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors at Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters.
